4G tower at GotaGoGama, work of Intelligence units – Harin
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Harin Fernando has called for an inquiry into the construction of a 4G phone tower near the Galle Face protest site (GotaGoGama).
The protest has been continuing for a week, calling for the resignation of the President and the government.
The SJB MP had said this by releasing a video on his Facebook page.
In the video, he called on the organizers of the struggle to find out who built the tower, especially at a time in the absence of a national security law and a cabinet.
He also states that there is information to suggest that intelligence units, who are tasked with national security, are trying to obtain information about vehicles going to and from the protest site and everything going on at the protest zone.
He further said :
Meanwhile, in a notice on their website, Dialog has stated that it was them who had carried out the installation of the 6m (20feet) pole antenna structure in the Galle Face area.
“The initiation of the said installation is one of the network solutions being implemented to alleviate the network congestion in the area experienced by our valued customers,” it says.
“This installation has been submitted for the approval of Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) and the activation of the augmented capacity will follow the receipt of TRCSL approvals,” the notice further adds.
