Another SLPP MP arrested!
Police say that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Milan Jayathilake has also been arrested by the CID.
SLPP MP Sanath Nishantha was also arrested a short while ago by the CID over the violent incidents at Galle Face & Kollupitiya on May 09.
Speaking in Parliament today (17), Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that he had instructed the IGP to report on the progress on the investigation conducted by the police on the attack carried out on the protesters in Galle Face and in front of Temple Trees to the Speaker every other day.
“I have spoken to the IGP and inquired about the progress which the police have made on the investigations and on arrests. I told him to report on the progress to the Speaker every other day,” he said.
Earlier today, the Police Spokesperson has said that the CID had forwarded a letter to the Speaker informing him that statements must be obtained from 7 Parliamentarians over the aforementioned incident.
