NCPA investigates a student’s video post!

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has initiated an investigation regarding a video posted on social media by an O/L student of the D.A. Rajapaksa Vidyalaya in Weeraketiya alleging that the principal had banned him from coming to school for one year.

The relevant student had posted a video he had recorded at the principal’s office when he visited the school on the 19th to collect his exam pass to sit for his O/L examination.

The NCPA had recorded a statement from the student and it is reported that the police would record a statement from the principal in question.

NCPA Chairman Dr. Udaya Amarasinghe said that the student’s statement alleges that he had not been allowed to attend school for a year and had been subjected to various forms of physical abuse. Hence, he said that the Human Rights Commission had been notified to investigate these allegations and take legal action on the grounds of human rights violation, he said.

Amarasinghe also said that he had notified the Education Ministry to investigate the allegations that the said student had been prevented from attending school for a year.
