MESSAGE TO NEW GOVERNMENT BY SANATH JAYASURIYA FROM GOHOME GOTA GAMA

Sanath’s message to the new Government

Former Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has called for the abolishment of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

In a message on Facebook, the former cricketer said the abolishment of the 20th Amendment is what will be used to judge the bonafides of the government.

He further slammed the government, stating that it is disturbing to note that despite two weeks with the new government in place nothing concrete has occurred.

“Our people are still suffering in queues. I appeal to all politicians please do not get complacent and forget the suffering of the people,” Jayasuriya further said.

The former cricketer also issued a warning to the Members of Parliament last week, laying out three options for them pertaining to the current economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

In a message via Twitter, Sanath Jayasuriya highlighted the suffering of the people due to the current crisis.

Slamming the MPs over alleged reports of being provided fuel privileges at a time when the public was suffering, he reminded the Parliamentarians that they are the servants of the people and not the other way around.

Sanath Jayasuriya pointed out three options for the MPs, stating either they resolve the crisis soon, suffer along with the people, or go home.

“I am disturbed to hear that fuel privileges were being given to members of parliament. They say this has now been stopped. However,we must learn from history. Remember the French Revolution and the famous words of Marrie Antoinette about eating cake when people did not have bread. parliamentarians are servants of the people not vice versa. The people of this country are suffering untold misery. You have three options SOLVE this SOON, suffer WITH us or GO HOME!,” he said. (NewsWire)
