SL Railways to boost services
Sri Lanka Railways has said that measures would be taken to increase trains as well as the number of carriages after the volume of passengers had boomed after the recent bus fare hike.
Speaking, Sri Lanka Railways – General Manager – Dhammika Jayasundera said that more intercity trains would be included to Kandy and Galle.
He further stated that the approval of the Public Service Commission has been obtained to recruit the essential staff on a contract basis.
The General Manager also stated that the Railway Department loses around Rs.15 Million daily due to the increase in fuel prices.
