SLPP Member of Parliament Kokila Gunawardena proposes to legalize prostitution

The Sri Lanka Podujana Party Member of Parliament Kokila Gunawardena participating in the ITN television channel THULAWA program had proposed to legalize prostitution as many destitute women are subjected to agony like subjected to be jailed.It is learnt that brothel owners who deploy these women in prostitution charge clients large sums and pay them only one tenth of the sums they charge the clients.

Kokila Gunawardena even went to the extent of laying emphasis that even the era of Lord Buddha prostitution was rampant even Kings were indulged openly.

Focusing on the injustices caused to destitute women who indulge in prostitution as their profession to have bread and butter on their tables.
