Saboteurs have opened sluice gates – Kanchana

The Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara told parliament today (09) that a group of saboteurs had opened the sluice gates of several reservoirs including Rantambe and Randenigala.

The Minister alleged that even if the water was released in this manner, it would not generate electricity, and would eventually lead to a shortage of water and the need to run thermal power plants using fuel in the future.
