FAMILY HEALTH SERVICES ASSOCIATION ADVICES PREGANANT WOMEN TO HACE A FUEL CAN AND HOSPITAL BAG READY

Keep a fuel can read in addition to hospital bag!’

The Family Health Service Officers’ Association has requested families to keep ready a jerry can of fuel in addition to the hospital bag prepared for expectant mothers who are close to giving birth.

This advice is given as the prevailing fuel crisis has worsened over the weeks.

It has been revealed that home births reported from the towns of Pitakotte and Nikaweratiya had taken place due to lack of fuel to get to a hospital.

Therefore, having a jerry can of fuel on standby would ensure that the expectant mother can be taken to hospital by any vehicle nearby, says Chairperson of the Association – Ms. Devika Kodithuvakku.

She emphasized that it is mandatory to give birth at a hospital.
