CLOSEST REASON FOR DROPPING PATHUM NISSANKA FROM LPL PLAYER DRAFT IS ‘FOUL PLAY’

Foul play suspected as Pathum Nissanka dropped from LPL player draft
Eyebrows have been raised after Sri Lankan player Pathum Nissanka was not selected for any team during yesterday’s (05) player draft of the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

Pathum, currently ranked 8th in the ICC T20 batsman rankings, is the only Sri Lankan to be in the top ten rankings.

Cricket fans have expressed surprise and dismay at the plight of Pathum, who is the opener of the national team batting line up in all three formats and one of the most consistent players of the team.

Some have suspected foul play, pointing out that nearly all players of two or three sports clubs have been selected regardless of talent. In one instance, the son of the team owner has also been selected irrespective of talent.Another player who has been wronged is Duvidu Thilakaratne, a left-arm spinner representing BRC Sports Club.Despite being the highest wicket-taker in the Inter Club Twenty20 tournament, he too has been overlooked.
