THREE MEMBER BENCH APPOINTED TO PROBE THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR ECONOMIC CRISIS

Probe sought on those responsible for the economic crisis!
The three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, L.T.B. Dehideniya and Yasantha Kodagoda has ordered today (06), to consider the petitions filed demanding an investigation against those who created an economic crisis in the country.

The relevant petitions have demanded an order to immediately conduct an investigation against the people responsible for pushing the country and the public to bankruptcy by adopting shortsighted economic measures without proper management.

The Supreme Court ordered to convene a panel of five judges to consider these two fundamental rights petitions on the 27th of this month.

The Attorney General representing the President, former Finance Minister and former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, current Finance Minister and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, former Central Bank Governors Ajith Nivard Cabral, Dr. W. D. Lakshman, former Finance Ministers Basil Rajapakse, Ali Sabri, former Secretary of the Ministry of Finance S. R. Atigala, Chairman of the Ceylon Bar Association, President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris and a group of others have been named as respondents.
