OPD AT KURUNEGALA HOSPITAL CLOSED OWING TO FUEL CRISIS

Kurunegala Hospital OPD closed due to fuel crisis

The outpatient department of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital has been closed due to the fuel crisis.

Meanwhile, the hospital administration said that only inpatients are being treated at present.

Consultant Dr. Dayananda Bandara expressing his views said, “The hospital services have been restricted. We are only treating inpatients. The fuel crisis has affected us seriously as 90% of the consultants attached to this hospital are not from these areas. Many of them are from Kandy or Colombo. Then we will have to come either by bus or train and we might have to stay here for about a week without being able to return home. We spoke with the Health Ministry and the situation is that they have no way of obtaining fuel until around Thursday or Friday due to the situation in the country. “

However, as a result of the decision taken by the hospital authorities to close the OPD section, the patients coming to this hospital have been severely inconvenienced.
