FOR SETTING FIRE TO RANIL’S DWELLING FOUR REMANDED-COLOMBO FORT MAGISTRATE

4 remanded over setting fire to Ranil’s house
Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage today (20) ordered the 04 suspects who were involved in the torching of the newly-elected President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence to be remanded in custody until the 27th.

After taking the report into consideration, the magistrate ordered the suspects to be referred to an identification parade.

However, as there was insufficient time today, the identification parade was postponed until the 27th.

The four suspects who were ordered to be remanded are residents of Ja-Ela, Galle and Mount Lavinia and are between the ages of 19-30.

When this incident was called before the court, the lawyer representing the aggrieved party Misbak Sattar, stated that since the books at the Prime Minister’s residence that were burnt are of national value, an independent investigation should be conducted regarding this incident.

The lawyers appearing for the defense informed the court that the main suspects related to this incident are still at large.
