New courses introduced for university students
Applications for the university academic year of 2021/2022 will be called from Sep. 05 onwards, UGC Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga said.
He said this during a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information today (30).
Speaking, he said that students can apply from Sep. 05 – 23 and the students handbook issued by the UGC in this regard will be issued to bookshops by Sep. 02. The list of selected bookshops are to be unveiled on Sunday and students can direct any queries to the hotline 1919 where trained officials will assist them, he added.
Urging students to watch the guideline video on the UGC website before completing the online application form, Prof. Amaratunga said that they can also direct their queries to the information desk of the UGC which is open on all 7 days, via 011 2695301 and 011 2695302.
The UGC chairman also announced that several new courses have been introduced this year.These courses include : A course on Financial Economics (Sri Jayawardenapura University), a course on English Language and Applied Linguistics (Uva Wellassa University), a course on Banking and Insurance (Vavuniya University) and a course on Creative Music and Technology (Sri Jayawardenapura University).
In addition, a new computer science faculty is to be inaugurated at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, he further noted.
