Special allowance for estate workers from next month
Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment – Manusha Nanayakkara has said that under aid granted by the World Food Programme and the World Bank, all estate workers will be given a special allowance from next month.
He said this while attending the maiden meeting of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Labour and Foreign Employment, held today (07).
As per instructions of the President, steps will be taken to provide this to the plantation workers as well as the urban plantation community in the face of the prevailing economic crisis, he added
