Rs.50 import tax imposed on big onions
The Finance Ministry has decided to impose a special commodity levy of Rs.50 per a kilo of imported big onion.
The Ministry said this tax will be effective for the next three months from September 23 under the Special Commodity Levy Act.
It further said that only Rs.10 of the special commodity levy of Rs.40 will be charged while the rest should be waived for an organization that manufactures drugs without any commercial purpose and registered under the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).
