President urged to remove Trade Minister!

In a letter to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection (NMCRP) Chairman Ranjith Vithanage demanded the removal of Trade Minister Nalin Fernando from his ministerial portfolio.

He said it is a serious crime to appoint Mr. Fernando as the Minister in charge of the Co-operative Wholesale Establishment when a court case is pending against him over alleged fraud and corruption that occurred in the same establishment.

Mr. Vithanage pointed out in his letter that the media has accused the Minister of engaging in business with foreign businessmen instead of looking into the issues faced by the consumers of the country who are going through severe economic difficulties. He said the minister has so far not responded to any of these allegations.
