Bhanuka and Wanindu steal the limelight Abu Dhabi T10 Tourney

Attacking left hand batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa and leg spinning ICC Number 3 ranked all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga stole the limelight after fourth day of the on going Abu Dhabi T-10 cricket tournament played in Abu Dhabi Zayed Cricket Stadium.

The 30 year old Rajapaksa playing for Chennai Braves franchise team scored back to back half centuries but unfortunately both their matches ended in defeats as they went down fighting against Delhi Bulls and Team Abu Dhabi . Chennai Brave team led by Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka was unlucky losing all three matches they played after fourth day

Rajapaksa came an opener in this tournament also doing unusual duty as a wicket keeper for the Chennai Braves team started with a duck in their first game against Deccan Gladiators but came back strongly to play his usual game to hit all over the grounds .His swashbuckling knock of 64 runs came off just 31 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 206.45 against Delhi Bulls.In the third match of the Chennai Braves against Team Abu Dhabi once again Rajapaksa stoled the limelight by scoring brisk 54 in 29 balls hitting five sixes and three fours with a strike rate of 186.20.

The 31 year old right hander Angelo Perera also playing for Chennai Brave team played a superb innings against Deccan Gladiators in their first match. Perera was the top Chennai Braves’ batter in this game where he smashed 60 runs off 29 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 206.90.He also scored 32 not out in 19 balls against Team Abu Dhabi .

Meanwhile the champion leggie Wanindu Hasaranga also came with a superb all round performance for Deccan Gladiators team .Hasaranga made 30 runs off 18 balls with 4 fours and a six at a strike rate of 166.67 against Team Abu Dhabi while delivering with the ball as usual, snaring 4 scalps for just 12 runs in his allotted two overs but they ended in a losing side in their opening game .He finished with 2 for 26 in his allotted two overs against Delhi Bulls which they won by nine wickets.

In addition two more Sri Lankans have been drafted by the Chennai Braves to play in the ongoing T10 League. Accordingly, one of Sri Lanka’s premier fast bowlers in white-ball cricket Nuwan Pradeep and the 23-year old wrist spinner Kevin Kotthigoda will play for Braves in this year’s tournament Chennai Braves lost all three matches wanted to strengthen their bowling attack with these two Sri Lankan players Kotthigoda is currently in Abu Dhabi while Pradeep who was out from the Sri Lanka T 20 world cup squad due to leg injury was scheduled to leave the island yesterday . to join his franchise team.

Dasun Shanaka’ side already packed with more Sri Lankan players Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dhananjaya Lakshan and Angelo Perera and with two new players altogether six players from Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile Team Abu Dhabi led by England all rounder Liam Livingston won their all four matches after fourth day came on top with 8 points while Delhi Bulls with three wins obtained six points tobe in second position and Deccan Gladiators having 4 points with two victories are in third place . Northern Warriors and Chennai Braves are the two teams without a single win after fourth days .

Isuru Udana playing for Bangla Tigers still recorded one win while Northern Warriors the depending champions are in sixth place couldn’t get a victory and the two Sri Lankan players of Warriors Upul Tharanga and Binura Fernando are still on the bench.

Two more matches Gladiators Vs Warriors and Bangla Tiger Vs Chennai Braves were scheduled to be played yesterday while Delhi Bulls Vs Team Abu Dhabi and Chennai Braves Vs Northern Warriors are scheduled for today . The final will be played on December 4.
