Two women engaged in a protest march were stopped by the Police earlier today (12) in Kalutara.

A tense situation ensued when the two women engaged in the protest march holding placards were stopped by the police and informed that they cannot be allowed to proceed.

Video circulating in social media shows the police officers informing the protestors that it’s not allowed to walk on the road holding placards.

Many took to social media to criticize the arbitrary behavior of the police officers, who reportedly did not provide a legitimate reason for obstruction the two women.
