Ronald Perera appointed as BoC chairman

President’s Counsel Ronald Perera has been appointed as the Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon.

The appointment was made by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Minister of Finance.

This is the second time Perera was appointed as the BoC Chairman, a post he previously held from Jan. 2015 – Nov. 2019.

Gazette to restrict gold imports

Sri Lanka has issued an extraordinary gazette restricting the imports of gold over 22 carats as jewellery.

State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya tweeted that the decision was made to prevent gold smuggling.

“Special Gazette No. 2312/77 is issued restricting import of gold above 22 carats as jewellery to prevent gold smuggling,” he tweeted.

Litro reduces gas prices

Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. has taken steps to reduce the prices of its LP gas cylinders with effect from midnight today (05).

Accordingly, the price of a 12.5 kg gas cylinder would be decreased by Rs.201 to Rs.4,409.

Meanwhile, the price of a 5 kg gas cylinder would be reduced by Rs.80 to Rs.1,770 and the price of a 2.3 kg gas cylinder would be reduced by Rs.38 to Rs.822.

Litro gas price to be slashed tomorrow?

The price of Litro domestic cylinders are to be revised tomorrow (05) as per the government pricing formula.

Chairman of Litro Gas Muditha Peiris said accordingly the price of a 12.5kg Litro domestic cylinder will be reduced by between Rs.200 – Rs.300.
