BUDDHIST ACADEMY IN FRANKFURT DECLARED OPEN

Frankfurt Buddhist Academy declared open

The Frankfurt Buddhist Academy was declared open recently with the participation of the Buddhist clergy, representatives of diplomatic missions and devotees. The plaque and the shrine- room statues of the Academy were unveiled by the founders of the Academy and Buddhist clergy, amidst Jayamangala Gatha.

Emeritus Prof. and Rector of the Academy, Ven. Bhikkhu Pasadika, warmly welcomed all attendees, on behalf of the organizing committee. Ven. Dr. Tampalawela Dhammaratana, President of the Frankfurt Buddhist Academy and former Consultant to UNESCO, chaired the first meeting.

Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama, the then Ambassador of Sri Lanka in France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, delivered the keynote speech on “Buddhist Education Leads to Sustainable Development of World Peace”. Emeritus Prof. and visiting scholar of Cambridge University, Ven. Deegalle Mahinda, delivered the guest speech on “Buddhist Ethics and Global Citizenship”.
