An extraordinary gazette has been issued naming Mr. A. H. M. Fowzie as a Colombo District Member of Parliament following the resignation of former Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman.

Mr. Rahman resigned from Parliament to contest Local Government elections.Mr. Fowzie received the highest number of votes next to Mr. Rahman on the SJB nominations list.
