Civilian dies after being run over by Army bigwig’s backup
Reports from the Minneriya Police Division say that a motorcyclist has died after being run over by a backup vehicle providing security to a top brass of the military.
The military bigwig had been travelling to Anuradhapura to attend a pooja of the famous astrologer known as ‘Gnana Akka’. It is said that this special pooja is held at her devalaya every Saturday at 7.00pm.
The motorcyclist had died on the spot after the accident took place last Saturday (04) while the Army bigwig had been travelling from another religious event in Welikanda.
Following the incident, the Army bigwig had left to attend the pooja after leaving the backup and driver involved, at the accident site.
