Flying kites near airports, a punishable offence

Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited today (04) said flying kites sending any airborne object over a height of 300 feet, within a radius of five kilometres from any international airport in Sri Lanka, was illegal and a punishable offence.

A statement by the AASL stated that such actions could hamper aircraft operations and could pose a risk to lives and to planes.

International airports are operational in Katunayake, Ratmalana, Mattala, Jaffna and Batticaloa.
