Court order issued on Laugfs, Litro
A panel of Judges, Ruwan Fernando and Sampath Wijeyeratne today (Jan. 17) directed Litro and Laugfs Gas to release only domestic gas cylinders that meet Sri Lanka Standards Institution guidelines.
The petition was filed by Nagananda Kodithuwakku, a civil society activist, seeking an inquiry into the explosions resulting from gas leaks.
Accordingly, the Court of Appeal has issued another order directing the companies to recall the unused gas cylinders currently on the market and to display the contents of a domestic gas cylinder on it.The court also directed the Consumer Affairs Authority to look into the matter and make appropriate arrangements. The court then directed that the petition be heard on January 26.
