The Dean at the Arts Faculty, Peradeniya University has lodged a police complaint against a student leader, alleging the latter had phoned him, impersonating a DIG.

According to a report in ‘Lankadeepa’, the person in question had phoned the Peradeniya police, impersonating a DIG and obtained the Dean’s phone number from a WPC attached to the police station.

Subsequently he had phoned the Dean 05 times. Unable to pick up the calls at that time, the Dean had later called back the number. He had been told the name of a DIG attached to the Police HQ.

In his complaint, the Dean said the caller had told him that following a scolding, panicked undergraduates had organized a protest demonstration in Colombo to enter the Presidential Secretariat and a warrant has been secured against this.The caller has also told him to come for an inquiry at the Police HQ on Aug, 21, the Dean has added.
