Shop owner arrested for verbally harassing 2 WPCs

 

An owner of a shop in front of the Alawathugoda Police Station was arrested for allegedly verbally harassing two Women Police Constables (WPC) who went to buy ice cream from the shop on Saturday (21).

The suspect is a 28-year-old businessman who is a resident of Ugurassapitiya in Katugastota.

The two constables had visited the shop to buy ice cream. However, it was said that they did not have enough money to buy a liter of ice cream.

Accordingly, a constable has asked the owner, ‘Can you pay the remainder?’

The owner has responded using a phrase of sexual nature.

Accordingly, the shop owner has been arrested by the Alawathugoda Police following a complaint filed stating that the officers were verbally sexually harassed.
