SRI LANKA IN ICC WC POINTS TABLE IN FIFTH POSITION

ICC Cricket World Cup points table

Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign received a much-needed boost today as they delivered a spectacular performance to defeat defending champions England by eight wickets.

The victory not only kept their World Cup semi-final hopes alive but also extended their remarkable winning streak against England in World Cup matches, which dates back to 1999.

In a highly anticipated clash, Sri Lanka showcased their prowess on both sides of the game. The Sri Lankan bowlers were relentless, dismantling England’s batting lineup and restricting them to a mere 156 runs in 33 overs. It was a collective effort, with every bowler chipping in and creating pressure on the English batsmen.

As the target was set, Sri Lanka approached the run chase with confidence and purpose. They managed to reach the required total in just 25 overs, losing only two wickets along the way. It was a composed and clinical performance with the bat, demonstrating their readiness to face any challenge.

Sri Lanka will play Afghanistan next in Pune on 30th October.
