Police said that three suspects have been arrested linked to the incident where the former chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), Janaka Rathnayake was allegedly threatened to death.

Police had commenced investigations after receiving a complaint from the former PUCSL chairman that he was threatened to death over the phone and the suspects extorted Rs. 1.5 million from him.

The suspects were arrested on Saturday (28) morning from the Rambukkana area by officers of Colombo Crimes Division. The police further said that these suspect are 24, 26 and 31 year old residents of Rambukkana and Kurunegala.

Arrested suspects were remanded till 9th November after being produced to courts. The Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further investigations (NewsWire)
