INDIA IN ICC WC FINAL SHAMI CAPTURES SEVEN WICKETS HIGHEST WICKET HAUL IN WC 2023

Dominant India cruise past New Zealand to reach the WC Final

India continued their dominance in the ongoing  ICC Cricket World Cup by defeating New Zealand by 70 runs in the semifinal to advance to final to be played in Ahmedabad on Sunday (19).

Winning the toss and batting first, the hosts put on a mammoth 397 for 4 in their 50 overs, thanks to centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer and all the top 5 batters contributing.

It was a historic day in Mumbai as India superstar Virat Kohli broke the world record for most centuries in ODI cricket, scoring his 50th century (117), going past the legend Sachin Tendulkar.

New Zealand put a fight in the chase, briefly putting some real pressure on the Indians with a brilliant partnership of 181 between skipper Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell.

Hopes of a Kiwi heist was soon faded when Williamson was dismissed by Shami for 69 and then Tom Latham for a duck in the same over. Mohammad Shami bowled brilliantly again, picking up 7 wickets.

Unbeaten India will now face the face the winners of tomorrow’s 2nd semifinal between South Africa and Australia.
