Sri Lanka’s All Ceylon Bakery Owner Association said prices of bakery products including bread will not be increased despite the 18% VAT which has come into effect from today (Jan. 01).

Bakery Owners Association President N K Jayawardena said although the VAT greatly impacts the entire industry, they have taken the decision after considering the plight of the public who are already facing severe economic woes.

However, Mr. Jayawardena has further said that they intend to take up the grievances of the industry with the government in a bid to seek a solution.
