Unlucky Mahmudullah claims unwanted Record
Mahmudullah Riyad has become the first cricketer in history to be dismissed during a hat-trick bowling performance in all three formats of international cricket – ODIs, Tests, and T20Is.
The unwanted record came about during Sri Lanka’s recent match against Bangladesh, where Nuwan Thushara completed a hat-trick with Mahmudullah’s wicket as the third dismissal. This follows similar dismissals in 2015 during an ODI against South Africa, where Kagiso Rabada claimed a hat-trick with Mahmudullah as the final wicket, and in 2020 during a Test match against Pakistan, where Naseem Shah achieved the feat with Mahmudullah being the third dismissal.
Remarkably, in all three instances, Mahmudullah’s dismissal was the one that sealed the hat-trick for the bowler.
