Sri Lankan-made car by Donnavann Dax Rajasegar showcased to President

A Sri Lankan-designed and manufactured car by Donnavann Dax Rajasegar was showcased to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday.

Speaking to Newswire, Rajasegar said that the project has received government endorsement, with the President encouraging the manufacturing of more cars.

The car, named the Segar Cobra after the designer’s father, represents a personal and financial achievement, Rajasegar said.

“I started building this car almost 12 years ago. At the time, a similar car cost 10 million US dollars, which I couldn’t afford as a teenager,” Rajasegar said, explaining the inspiration behind the project. He highlighted that building the car was only a fraction of the 10 million dollar cost.

Rajasegar also noted that the vehicle has undergone necessary evaluations by the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERD) and expressed gratitude to Sri Lanka Customs and the Department of Motor Traffic for their support. (Newswire)
