The National Water Supply and Drainage Board categorically denies the rumours that have spread regarding the quality of water supplied by them to Colombo and its environs.

Rumours have spread that its consumption has caused diarrhea and vomiting.

NWSDB Assistant General Manager A.G.R.J. Wijesinghe stated that water supplied by the board has gone through proper refining methods and stringent quality controls.

“The water supplied by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board is compliant with the national standards. Whatever the quality of water that has come with the floods it has no effect because we have followed the required refining process and quality controls. There shouldn’t be any fear regarding the water supply”, he added.
