PATALIE CHAMPIKA DISCLOSES FORMER MINISTERS OWE STATE BANKS RS 650,000 MN

“Fmr. ministers yet to pay bank loans amounting to Rs. 650,000 mn.”

Leader of the United Republic Front, MP Patali Champika Ranawaka today (June 17) emphasised that the government should work to net those who have evaded taxes despite being perfectly capable of paying them.

Speaking during a public meeting in Homagama, he said that several former ministers including a powerful minister had evaded repaying loans amounting to Rs. 650,000 million to state banks.

Due to this, a common man is not even able to obtain a bank loan, he pointed out.

He also stated that plans are underway to impose two new taxes in the future, further increasing the tax burden on the public.
