Death threats to police officers curbing underworld
IGP Deshbandu Tennakoon has stated that threats have been made to the police officers involved in curbing underworld activities.
The threats have been levelled after the deadly Athurugiriya shooting that took place earlier this week.
Speaking to media today (July 11), the IGP said that a list of police officers have been publicized, threatening them with death.
However, the IGP says that police officers engaged in curbing underworld activities will continue their work despite these threats.
He also says that measures will also be taken to round up illegal firearms in the society.
