Unbeaten Sri Lanka cruise to semi-finals

The Sri Lanka Women’s team easily defeated Thailand by 10 wickets to enter the semi-finals in their Asia Cup T20 match at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Openers Chamari Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunaratne shined, both remaining unbeaten as they chased down the target of 94 runs in just 11.3 overs. Chamari, in top form, scored 49 not out off 35 balls, hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes. Vishmi supported brilliantly with 39 not out off 34 balls, including 4 fours and a six. Chamari was named Player of the Match.

Earlier, Thailand chose to bat first but struggled to 93 for 7 in 20 overs. Nannapat Koncharoenikai was the only standout, scoring an unbeaten 47.

Sri Lanka, finishing at the top of their group with an unbeaten record, will face Pakistan in the semi-final tomorrow at 7 pm. India will take on Bangladesh in the other semi-final tomorrow at 2 pm.
