Over 10, 000 athletes from 206 countries will take part at the 33rd Olympic Games which will be worked off for today to August 11. There are 329 events from 32 sports included for this mega event which attracts world leading contingents.
Sri Lankan Athletics team for the Paris Olympic Games left last Wednesday. Sri lanka athletic team comprised three athletes Tharushi Karunaratne (800m, Aruna Dharshana (400m) and Javelin thrower Nadeesha Lekamge.
They will be accompanied by their coaches Susantha Fernado, Asanka Rajakaruna and Pradeep Nishantha.
This time Nadeesha Lekamge and shuttler Viren Netthasinghe are the flag barriers of Sri Lanka team at the opening ceremony.
