Fuel supply crisis; President meets petroleum heads

In addition to the $ 500 million loan from India, another $ 4 billion is needed to continue supplying fuel continuously throughout the year.

The president has chaired a meeting to discuss how to raise the $ 4 billion, the Sunday Times reported.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has informed the Central Bank that it first needs dollars to continue to supply fuel to the transport and power sectors.

The emergency meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President with the request of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

The Petroleum Corporation has submitted a detailed report on the monthly fuel requirement of the country.

Accordingly, 90,000 metric tons of petrol, 150,000 metric tons of diesel and 90,000 metric tons of crude oil is required per month.
