Covid-19 infected corpse released to family
Remains of a female which was released to the family before the PCR test results had come in, has been posthumously found as Covid-19 positive.
The 79-year old female from the Pothuwila, Gammedda area had passed away on Jan. 18.
The embalmed remains were being laid at her residence when the PCR result had come in today (20).
Accordingly, health authorities had speedily acted to recall the remains and cremate it today itself, as per Covid-19 regulations.
Twelve persons including family members and workers of a funeral parlour in Kalutara who had done the embalming, had been quarantined.
