EC bans use of national flag and religious symbols in campaigns

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has issued a directive to political parties and presidential candidates, prohibiting the use of the national flag and religious symbols for propaganda during election campaigns.

The commission warned that strict actions would be taken against any parties or individuals violating this rule.

The circular issued concerning the preparation of the election offices also instructs in this regard.
