Grade 5 scholarship : Special measures for Covid-19 affected candidates
The Department of Examinations says that special measures have been taken to facilitate candidates of the Grade 5 scholarship exam, who are quarantined due to Covid-19 or have contracted the virus.
The 2021 Grade 05 scholarship is to be held next Saturday (22).
The Department of Examinations says that 108 centers (one for each zone) have been set up island wide for such children and they can obtain facilities to sit for the exam by submitting the PCR or Rapid Antigen test.
A special room has been prepared for such children in these exam centres and all invigilators have been briefed in this regard, the Department notes.
A special media briefing to create awareness on this exam was held at the Department of Government Information today (20) morning with the attendance of officials including L.M.D. Dharmasena, the DG of the Examinations Department.
On Saturday, a total of 340,508 candidates will sit for the exam at 2,943 exam centres and 108 special centres. 255,062 candidates will sit for the exam in Sinhala medium while 85,446 will take the exam in Tamil medium.
