MPs not backing RW urged to leave!
All government MPs who will not back President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the upcoming Presidential election, have been informed to leave, reports say.
According to political sources, President Ranil Wickramasinghe has taken this decision after considering the request of MPs, politicians and groups who are backing him.
It is said that retaining such MPs further has proven useless at this critical juncture as they are said to be engaging in a political gamble by giving away political decisions to opponents.
Therefore, those who are backing the President have urged him to remove such persons and let them carry out work of election campaigns in a more peaceful manner.
It is reported that yesterday’s decision to sack 04 state ministers was also taken due to this reason.
Meanwhile, it is also said that several other state ministers and MPs have been sternly told to take a stance without swaying.
Accordingly, a few state ministers have urged to be given the opportunity to resign instead of being sacked, sources say.
