Bandula pays courtesy call on Pakistan PM Imran Khan
Minister of Trade of Sri Lanka – Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana and State Minister for Regional Cooperation – Mr. Tharaka Balasuriya paid a courtesy call on the Pakistan PM – Imran Khan today (25).

Dr. Gunawardhana and Mr. Balasuriya along with a Sri Lankan Business delegation are currently visiting Pakistan from 20-27 January 2022. A statement issued by the Pakistan PM’s office notes that Mr. Khan had fondly recalled his visit to Sri Lanka in Feb. 2021 and reaffirmed the strong fraternal relations between the two countries.

Stressing on the importance of regular high-level exchanges in strengthening bilateral cooperation, the Pakistan Prime Minister had appreciated the initiative of Dr. Gunawardhana to visit Pakistan along with a business delegation. Mr. Khan had emphasized that all efforts must also be made to increase bilateral trade relations through making optimal use of the Pakistan – Sri Lanka FTA.

Referring to the strong cultural bond between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the Prime Minister invited the attention of the visiting delegation on the rich Buddhist Heritage of Pakistan, and expressed hope that more Sri Lankans will come to the country for religious tourism, the statement says.
