AT BIA FLIGHT OPERATIONS BACK TO NORMAL AFTER BOMB THREATS

Flight operations at BIA back to normal

The management of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) has assured that flight operations at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) continue as usual without any disruption after an emergency was declared earlier today over a bomb scare on a Vistara flight from Mumbai to Colombo.

A nonspecific call on a bomb threat had been reported to the flight before landing at BIA. Accordingly, the security agencies and relevant authorities adopted all precautionary and preventive measures in line with the protocol. The flight with 107 passengers, one infant, and 8 crew onboard landed safely at the airport at 14:55 hrs. All passengers were swiftly evacuated from the aircraft to the passenger terminal building, and the safety of all passengers was assured.
