Didn’t order to excavate – Attanagalla Magistrate
Attanagalla Magistrate – Manjula Karunaratne has stated that he had not given an order to excavate a site in the Wanduramba area of Veyangoda, where a treasure was said to be located.
He has said that based on a report by the STF, he had issued an order for tests with regard to possible metal deposits in Wanduramba in Veyangoda, but that no order was made for excavations.
Speaking during the Cabinet briefing held today (Nov. 26) morning, Cabinet spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa also said that the government was not also involved in the excavations.
The excavation itself had concluded without any discovery of treasure or items of archaeological value.
