Jaffna gets additional MP seat
According to the updated electoral registry, one Parliamentary seat has been reduced from the Gampaha District and added to the Jaffna district.
Accordingly, seats allocated to the Gampaha district will now be 18.
Issuing a statement, the National Election Commission said one Parliament seat will be added to the Jaffna District, increasing the total seats from six to seven.
The Election Commission that convened yesterday has decided to issue a Gazette Notification detailing the number of Parliamentarians that will be elected from each district at the next election.
