5 arrested over clash with Maithri’s security
The Talangama Police says that 05 persons have been arrested over an assault on a Police Sergeant attached to the ex-Presidential Security Division (PSD) of former President Maithripala Sirisena.
Police said the incident reportedly took place outside a studio of a leading TV channel in Pelawatte last night where the former President was participating in a political programme.
Only the driver of the back up security vehicle was present on the road outside the studio while other security officers were inside the studio when the incident occurred.
It was reported that five men who were under influence of alcohol were behaving an unruly manner near the backup security jeep of the former President. The men had attacked the Police Sergeant following an argument.
