Five Sri Lankan fishermen in Indian custody

The Indian Coast Guards have taken into custody a fishing boat with five Sri Lankan fishermen who were engaged in fishing in Indian waters illegally.

According to the Indian media, the fishermen were arrested by the Indian Coast Guard in the sea off Kanya Kumari beach yesterday.

The arrested fishermen and the vessel were scheduled to be taken to the Tuticorin port in Tamil Nadu.

The fishing vessel had departed for fishing activities from the Chilaw area.
