Petition to close down Dehiwala ZOO
The Justice for Animals and Wildlife Organization is planning to submit a petition to the Minister in charge of the Dehiwala Zoo, requesting that it be closed and that the animals be sent to the Ridiyagama and Pinnawala outdoor zoos.
This petition is to be handed over at the Zoological Department under the patronage of Ve. Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thera.
The petition also calls for the creation of a forest with natural vegetation within the Dehiwala Zoo premises.
