WIMAL ,TIRAN, ANURA INDEPENDENT GROUP PROPOSES TO FORM A NEW GOVERNMENT SANS BASIL

Wimal’s group in talks with President to form government without Basil!

A crucial discussion between Wimal Weerawansa, Tiran Alles, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and a group of parliamentarians who were with the government but, decided to sit independently in Parliament since the 5th is scheduled to be held at the President’s House this (10) evening.They are preparing to discuss the proposal submitted by the group to the President on Friday (08).

The group of independent parliamentarians has also proposed to the President to set up a National Executive Council consisting of the leaders of the political parties represented in Parliament to take policy decisions on the government, and to appoint a new Prime Minister and a limited Cabinet on the advice of the National Executive Council.

The strongest of this group was the removal of Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and it is reported that the Rajapaksa family has decided not to give Basil Rajapaksa any ministerial posts for a short period of time.According to internal sources, this group that was with the government but stepped out of the government and decided to be independent, is now trying to get back in due to the sudden realization and quandary regarding which party they would contest under in the event there is an election.

These internal sources also said that this group would not be supporting the No Confidence Motion for which the SJB is collecting signatures.

Among the proposals submitted by the independent group are:

1). Establishment of a National Executive Council consisting of the leaders of the political parties represented in Parliament
